We are a group of Orthopaedic Nurses from the Clinical area who work in the general hospital of St.Luke's.

There are three orthopaedic wards and about 66 orthopaedic nurses in the whole country.  AMON members hail from different areas including the 3 orthopaedic wards, orthopaedic theatre, orthopaedic out-patients, A&E, Paeds and also some international members.  Initially, the journey to set up an Association was difficult due to the limited number of nurses.

However, looking back we feel very satisfied with the outcome of our effort and commitment.

Mission and Vision of AMON

The Mission of AMON is to create a community spirit between orthopaedic nurses, promote the personal and professional development of its members and foster a high level of orthopaedic nursing care excellence.

The Vision of AMON is to see orthopaedic nurses who are passionate about their speciality, motivated, united and empowered to take decisions in the clinical area that will lead to more holistic nursing care.

  • Passionate about their speciality by instilling a sense of pride and commitment towards becoming expert practitioners in orthopaedic nursing with a focus on individualised and evidence based care given from the heart.  This should lead to enhanced professional acknowledgment for the importance of their contribution towards society.

  • More motivated through a culture of reward that AMON will promote to ensure that its members’ efforts are encouraged through a reward system.  This factor will be given its due importance because we believe in the concept of ‘caring for the carers’.

  • More united through the culture of mutual support, involvement and the creation of social activities that will foster more solidarity between members.  Such solidarity will also be reflected through close contacts with the MUMN Executive Committee.

We still have a long way to go before we manage to attain our vision but as some wise Chinese sage once said—

every journey begins with a single step…...
